Programs - Youth Services sponsors a variety of programs offering youth opportunities in life skills; citizenship and leadership; leisure, recreation and arts; and mentoring, intervention and support services. Classes are available in Tae Kwon Do. The Middle School and Teen Program offers a homework lab; computer lab; open recreation; arts and crafts; pick up sports; and special interest activities that change each week. A Middle School/Teen Summer Camp is available at a cost appropriate for 6 hours of care in accordance with the annual DOD fee policy. CYS registration is required for participation.

Regularly Scheduled Programs

Power Hour - for youth in grades 6-12. Power hour is a nationally recognized Boys and Girls Club of America program that enhances study skills. Youth must be registered with CYS.

Saturday Open Recreation - Teens are required to sign in and out. Grades 6-8 from 10:00 am - 9:00 pm and Grades 9 and higher are from 10:00 am - 11:00 pm.

Youth Sponsorship Program - The sponsorship program is for youth relocating to the Fort Belvoir area to become familiar with their new surroundings, learn about available services, and to make new friends. To request information, or a youth sponsor, call (703) 805-4606.

Middle School Age Program - Fort Belvoir Youth Services offers a middle school as well as a teen program for youth grades 6-12, Monday - Thursday from 2:00 - 8:00 pm at the Youth Center. Children at Walt Whitman should ride Bus 1. Program activities include homework help, Power Hour, computers, games, arts and crafts, community service activities, cooking projects, and a safe warm environment to be a teen.

Tae Kwon Do Classes - For youth ages 7and older. Cost is $42.00 a month and $23 for additional family members. See the following link for more information. http://www.quickickstkd.com

Keystone Club - For teens who want to make a difference in our community. The club is sponsored by YS and Boys and Girls Club of America. Earn vluable volunteer credits while learning leadership skills of running your own organization.

Tutoring Program - Youth tutors and volunteers donate their time to tutor other youth grades 6-12 in various subjects. Parents requesting tutoring services for their child must come by the Youth Center and enroll. Tutors are assigned on a first come basis.

Teen Council - Meets every Wednesday at 5:00 pm. This group is actively involved in the planning and development of activities offered at YS, organizes events, sponsors community outreach, etc... Members will receive valuable community service hours as well as learn leadership skills.

Eligibility: Eligibility includes active duty and retired military personnel, DoD civilian personnel, reservists on active duty for 72 hours, and DoD contractors working on Fort Belvoir.
