Hours of Operation - Monday-Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Programs -The center just received its re-accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children in 2001. Programs available at South Post include full day care for children 6 weeks to 5 years and an hourly program. Parents can tour the center by calling the above number and making an appointment.

Fees - Fees for full and part day programs are determined by the DoD fee policy and are based on total family income.

Hourly Care - Designed for parents who need child care on an intermittent basis. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except Wednesdays hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p. m. To make reservations call the center at (703) 806-4347. Reservations can be made up to one month in advance. Fees are $4.00/hour and are due when the child is picked up. An hourly rate of $2.50/hour is available for CAT I families. To determine CAT I parents must provide a recent leave and earning statement at regsitration. Hourly care orientation and CYS registration are required prior to making an appointment. Call the CYS Central Registration office at (703) 805-9114/9116/9118 for a registration appointment.

Staff - All staff must complete national and local background checks. Staff must also complete required training in First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, and the 13 Army Child Development Training Modules to reach their target level pay grade. Once the target level as been completed, 24 annual training credits are required. In adition to the mandatory training, 18 South Post staff members have completed their Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials.

Parent Participation - Parent participation is highly encouraged. Parents are invited to eat lunch with their child and to volunteer in various activities (please make prior arrangements with your child's teacher). The Parent Advisory Board meetings are open to all parents and are held the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. in the front lobby. The WIN (Why I'm Needed) program allows parents to earn points through participating in volunteer opportunities at the center or attending parenting classes through the Family Advocacy Program. Parents who earn five credits may receive a 10% discount off their 1st child's monthly fee for the Part-day Preschool and full day programs.

Eligibility - Eligibility includes active duty military personnel, DoD civilian personnel, reservists on active duty for 72 hours, and DoD contractors working on Fort Belvoir. All patrons must register with CYS Central Registration. The Central Registration phone number is (703) 805-9114/9116/9118. Waiting lists for full-day, part-day, and school age programs may currently be in effect. To apply for the waiting list, contact Central Registration.
